NAC Kazatomprom JSC informed about signing of basic documents of three joint Russian-Kazakh ventures in the area of peaceful usage of atomic energy

/KASE, October 13, 06/ - NAC Kazatomprom JSC (Almaty), whose bonds
are traded in Kazakhstan stock exchange's (KASE) official "A" listing
category, today spread an informational message of the following content.
Quotation start
On October 12, 2006 in Moscow a signature of basic documents of three
joint Russian-Kazakh ventures in the area of peaceful usage of atomic
energy took place. Signed documents set the participation of Russian and
Kazakh organizations in JV on parity basis, with equal shares in the
authorized capital.
Akbastau JV (place of registration - Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan) is
established for developing of the field Yuzhnoye Zarechnoye and plots of
uranium field Budenovskoye on the territory of Kazakhstan with the purpose
of providing reactors of Russian design with fuel.
Center on enrichment of uranium JV (place of registration - Angarsk, Irkutsk
oblast, Russian Federation).
Atomic stations JV (place of registration - Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan)
is set up for development and advancement on markets of Russia,
Kazakhstan and third countries of atomic reactor with power units of new
type VBER-300. Currently JV faces a task to elaborate design estimates of
this reactor together.
As it was reported before, reactor with power units of new type VBER-300
will become an export position of Russian-Kazakh Atomic stations JV for
sale to third world countries. Its primary construction decisions are based
on approved and proved reactors of Navy of the Soviet Union, which already
have more than 6000 reactor years of trouble-free operation. This reactor
according to its technical characteristics will relate to reactors of last
generation, at that, taking into account its capacity at 300 MWth, it will
be the only reactor of such capacity, which is demanded on the market.
Establishment of afore-mentioned enterprises was provided by memorandums,
signed by Techsnabexport PC, Atomstroyexport CC and NAC Kazatomprom JSC
in the course of working meeting of D. Akhmetov, the prime minister of
the Republic of Kazakhstan, and S. Kirienko, the head of Rosatom,
on July 25, 2006 and is the first practical step in the realization
of primary tasks on integration of enterprises of nuclear and industrial
complexes of Russia and Kazakhstan, determined by V. Putin, the president
of the Russian Federation, and N. Nazarbayev, the president of the republic
of Kazakhstan, in the Joint statement about cooperation in the area of world
usage of atomic energy dated January 25, 2006.
