/IRBIS, Sergey Yakovlev, July 3, 06/ - Within the first six months of 2006
volume of trades in foreign currency held on Kazakhstan stock exchange
(KASE) reached the equivalent of USD12,687.2 m. and grew by $7,439.4 m
compared to similar period of last year or 2.42 times in dollar equivalent. In
tenge equivalent the turnover grew 2.32 times.

deals of the main (morning) session of KASE from January 1, 06 till June 30,
06, according to IRBIS's estimates totaled KZT126.99 per dollar, on all
exchange's deals - KZT126.62 per dollar.
Rate of tenge strengthening against dollar at the exchange's rate is
estimated this year as of June 30 of 2006 at 23.28% APR. For the first six
months tenge against dollar strengthened by 11.48% in face value.
In 2005 tenge devaluated against dollar by 2.91% in face value.
