Another 8 companies have joined to the initiative of transparency in the activity of mining sectors in Kazakhstan

/INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN, Almaty, June 30, 06/ - Another 8 acting in
Kazakhstan companies have joined to "Transparency initiative of revenues
from mining sectors" (Extractive industries transparency initiative, EITI),
having sighed corresponding memorandum, press service of the Ministry of
Energy and Mineral resources informed on Friday.
In accordance with spread press release of the Ministry of Energy,
enterprises have joined to initiative as follows: Sokolovsk-Sarbay ore mining
and processing group, Vasilievsk ore mining processing group, company
Kazchrome, Zhayremsk ore mining processing group, company Aluminum of
Kazakhstan, Alga Caspian Gas, Max Petroleum and Eurasian energy
corporation.
Message informs that memorandum of EITI implementation has been sighed
earlier by 38 companies, and also 52 non-governmental and associated
organizations of the republic.
As it is known, prime minister of Great Britain, Tony Blaire declared EITI in
September 2002. Its task is achievement of information transparency both
about dues of mining companies and about revenues obtained by
governments of countries, rich of natural resources.
In June 2005 the president of the republic, Nursultan Nazarbaev declared of
support to Britain initiative from Kazakhstan.
EITI implementation stipulates auditing pursuant to international standards
after reporting by company in front of government on dues into the budget of
the country.
