Kazakhmys plans to lead out its sync plant at production capacity level this year

/INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN, Almaty, April 28, 06/ - Vice president on corporative
financial business projects of Kazakhmys Oleg Novachuk confirmed the plans of
copper corporation to lead out the sync plant (Karaganda oblast, in the center),
which is the part of corporation's structure, at planned production capacity level
this year.
"We are planning to reach planned production capacity level at our sync plant in
2006," - he informed on Friday at the conference on IPO conducting aspects,
organizer of which was Ernst&Young.
According to its data, planned production capacity of the plant totals about
100,000 tons of metal sync in a year.
As it was reported, Sync plant Kazakhmys started working in October of 2003.
Then it was assumed that the plant was going to reach planned production
capacity on 2006.
Last year the corporation produced 50.9 th. tons of metal sync against 18.0 th.
tons the year earlier.
"Kazakhmys in 2005 produced 396.6 th. tons of refined copper against 428.0 th.
tons in 2004.
Metal mining enterprises of the corporation for the reporting period mined 39.446
m. tons of ore against 35.76 m. tons in 2004.
According to the company's data, sync concentrate issue totaled 231.5 th. tons in
2005 against 150.0 th. tons last year, copper rod - 8.7 th. tons and 49.0 th.
tons, correspondingly.
Besides that, the corporation produced 20.516 m. ounces of silver (in 2004 -
17.718 m. ounces) and 100.5 th. ounces of gold (86.0 th. ounces,
correspondingly).
Corporation Kazakhmys specializes on producing of refined copper and copper
raw materials and merges Zhezkazgan copper-smelting plant (former
Zhezkazgantsvetmet JSC), Balhash miming and smelting enterprise, Zhezkent
ore mining and processing enterprise, Eastern Kazakhstan copper-chemical
enterprise and others.
As is known. At the end of last year Corporation Kazakhmys PLC (the company
registered in London especially for leading-out of the shares to the world market)
offered on London stock exchange 26.2% of its shares and borrowed 661.0 m.
