/INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN, Astana, June 27, 05/ - Since July 1 of 2005
tariffs of Kazakhstan temir zholy (KTZh, railroad) for main-line railway (MLR)
services for transportation of crude oil, ferrous and non-ferrous metals will
be raised.
Kazakhstan's Natural monopolies regulation agency (NMRA) took
corresponding decision after examining KTZh's application about the
necessity to raise tariffs for MLR services.
NMRA has decided to increase the tariffs only for international transportation:
crude oil - by 13%, ferrous, non-ferrous metals, rolling of ferrous and
non-ferrous metals - by 11%, and for building cargoes transportation - not
to raise tariffs, the message of NMRA's press-service says.
"The reason for increasing the tariffs was growth of KTZh's expenses
because of growth of rendered services, and also by the necessity to make
repairs, decrease of KTZh's incomes, also from confirmation of temporary
descending coefficient 0.01 to tariffs for MLR services on passenger
transportation (according to KTZh's data in year 2004 it had loss from MLR
services in the amount of KZT6.7 bn.)", - the release says. Current rate is
135.50/$1.
The message says growth of tariffs will not influence upon inflation.
"On the reasons tariffs for MLR services for cargo transportation in domestic
communication has remained unchanged, the growth of the tariffs will not
influence upon inflation in the country and will not cause growth of consumer
prices", - the release says.
