New president of Asian development bank elected

/Kazakhstan today, November 18, 04/ - The board of governors of the Asian
Development Bank (ADB) has elected a new president today, November 18,
KZ-today has been informed by the ADB press service.
Haruhiko Kuroda, former vice minister of finance for international affairs of
Japan, has become the new head of the ADB.
H. Kuroda, 60, will take over as ADB President on 1 February, 2005,
succeeding Tadao Chino, who announced his resignation in August.
H. Kuroda is currently special advisor to the Japanese cabinet and a
professor at the graduate school of economics at Hitotsubashi University,
Tokyo.
The new ADB president has authored several books on monetary policy,
exchange rate, international finance policy coordination, international
taxation, and international negotiations.
