Jan-May 2004 rail cargo turnover rose by 9.5 pct in Kazakhstan

/REUTERS, Almaty, Tatyana Seroshtanova, June 3, 04/ - Cargo turnover processed by state-owned railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy in January- May of 2004 rose 9.5% relative to same period in 2003, while passenger transportations went up by 12.9 percent, the Company told on Thursday. The announcement states that cargo turnover for the mentioned period reached 63 297 billion of tonne-kilometers, passenger transportation totaled 4 220 billion of passengers. May cargo turnover rose by 9.3 percent in May 2004 relative to May of the previous year, passenger increased by 10.4 percent. [2004-06-03]
