Altyn Bank JSC (SB of China CITIC Bank Corporation Ltd) participates with EUR
4 million in EUR 151 million syndicated loan to Belarusbank (Republic of
Belarus). Mandated lead arrangers of the transaction were the Russian Alfa-Bank,
Transkapitalbank, Ak Bars Bank and Eurasian Development Bank. Participants of
the syndicated loan were 14 financial institutions from Russia and other CIS
countries.
The syndicated loan has been provided for up to two years for general corporate
purposes, as well as to finance commercial contracts of Belarusbank's clients
related to supply of goods, equipment and services to the Republic of Belarus.
'Participation in international transactions is an integral part of our current
med-term development strategy,' Marat Almenov, the CEO of Altyn Bank, 'and we
are planning to develop further this business line in cooperation with leading
Kazakh and foreign banks, our principal shareholder China CITIC Bank Corporation
Ltd., as well as major international financial organisations, such as Eurasian
Development Bank.'
Alexei Chirkizyanov, Director of Debt Capital at Alfa-Bank, emphasised that
'during syndication process investors produced considerable interest, which
allowed to close the book with 2.5 times over-subscription despite rather short
transaction deadlines and dynamic market conditions. The transaction is unique
both in terms of volume and tenors and in terms of pricing.'
'The project is being realised in the financial sector, which is among EDB's
target sectors in accordance with its 2018-2022 Strategy. It contributes to
economic integration of EDB member states, which is a priority to the Bank's
investment activities,' said Dmitry Ladikov-Roev, Asset and Liability Managing
Director of the Eurasian Development Bank.
Belarusbank is already the second bank from the Republic of Belarus in financing
of which Altyn Bank participates. Earlier this year, Altyn Bank participated
with EUR 3.5 million in another syndicated loan to Belinvestbank.
