23.04.02 00:00
/Kazakhstan today, Apr 23, 02/ - European Union has made a decision to
exclude Kazakhstan from the list of countries with respect to which steel
products defensive measures are undertaken.
According to estimates of the Ministry of trade and economy, it was a
consequence of the fact that volumes of Kazakhstan steel in Europe are not
significant. Steel export to EU countries in the year 2001 accounted for 35 th.
tons for total amount of $4.5 million.
Main buyers of Kazakhstan steel are Great Britain that has bought 15.3 th.
tons which accounts for 44% of total volume of export to EU countries, and
Italy - 15.6 th. tons (44.6% of total volume of export to EU countries).
European Union has undertaken defensive measures with respect to import
of steel products in response to an increase of import fees in the USA for
protection of domestic steel market.
