Kazakhstan expects to sell promising enterprises in year 2001

/IRBIS, Nov 08, 00/ - Kazakhstan intends to privatize six forward looking companies in the next year. The companies previously participated in the "blue chips" program. They will also be privatized in a framework of individual projects. Below is the list of companies which government stakes will be offered in the next year: - Aktobemunaigas (oil production); - Ust-Kamenogorskii titan-magnesium plant (metallurgy); - Sokolovsk-Sorbaisk iron-ore association (metallurgy); - Aluminii Kazakhstana (metallurgy); - Kazchrome (metallurgy); - Kazzink (metallurgy). The government has many times attempted to sell companies during last four years. These attempts was disrupted by financial crisis in 1998 and spread of its unfavorable consequences. The scheme of year 2001 include privatization of all power distributing companies along with broad range program of smaller companies. In total, about KZT38 bln will be received from sell-off in the next year. In the current adjusted budget privatization revenues were cut from KZT59 to KZT37 bln. Using materials of REUTERS agency.
