Lately, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has allocated to OJSC "Demir Kazakhstan Bank" medium-term credit facilities in the amount of 3.5 mln USD. This funds are to be used to support the financing of the trade in Kazakhstan. It is said that is proves that DKB is recognized by international institutions as a reliable partner. During its existence OJSC "Demir Kazakhstan Bank" expanded, and its efficiency and profitability also increased. At the end of the first quarter of the year 2000, DKB ranked eighths in the Kazakhstani banking sector in terms of capital and eleventh in terms of assets, is said. The balance of the bank has increased to 53 mln USD by the 1st quarter of the year 2000, up from 26 mln USD in the 1st quarter of last year. From the beginning of this year DKB increased its equity capital to KZT2 bln by attracting 6 year subordinated loan. This year was also marked by other important events such as obtaining licenses for servicing credit cards, offering custodian services and the license of the primary dealer, as well as the creation of branch network.
