Kazakhstan became a member of the International Institute of Welding

/IRBIS, July 28, 2011/ - At a 64-th General Assembly of the
International Institute of Welding July 17, 2011 in Chinay (India)
Kazakhstan was approved as the 55th member of the International
Institute of Welding (IIW) in the face of the Kazakhstan Association
of Welding "KazWeld", the press service of "KazWeld" reported.
Association "KazWeld" is an independent body bringing together
large companies, universities and training centers such as the Total
Company, Arcelor Mittal, Imstalcon, KazNTU, KSTU, and a number
of subsidiaries and affiliates of JSC "SK".
As indicated, the creation of association "KazWeld" was initiated by
the President, actively supported by Total E & P Kazakhstan and is
due to an acute shortage of skilled welders in the oil and gas,
metallurgical and other industries, as well as to improve the
efficiency of the welding industry in Kazakhstan and to promote local
content development to be competitive at international level.
"Membership in the IIA provides open access to the latest global
welding technology and know-how and the possibility of training of
Kazakhstani specialists according to international standards with the
issuance of international diplomas and certificates recognized by the
54 member countries of MIS", - was stated in the message.
The goals of "KazWeld" Association are:
- Implementation of international standards of training,
education and certification for welding in Kazakhstan;
- Accreditation of training centers for training on international
standards, MIS;
- issuing diplomas and certificates of IIA;
- integration of existing training organization for welding and all
interested companies.
International Welding Institute was established in 1948 in London,
bringing together so far, 54 countries and has set itself the goal of
identifying, creating, development and transfer of global best
practices on sustainable development in an ecologically clean
environment, by developing training programs and professional
training, qualification and certification on a global scale.
Members of the International Institute are the countries representing
the major industrialized economic powers such as USA, Canada,
EU, Japan, China, Russia, etc.
