Tethys Petroleum Limited (United Kingdom) informs on successful test at Akkulka deposit gas pipeline

/KASE, February 17, 09/ - Tethys Petroleum Limited (Channel Islands), common shares of which are listed on the special trading floor of the Regional Financial Center Almaty, provided Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) with the press release of the following content: Quotation beginning Bozoy, Kazakhstan, Monday, February 9, 2009: Tethys Petroleum Limited (Tethys of "the Company") (TSX:TPL) announced today about a succesful test of the main gas pipeline within the gas development project at Akkulka deposit in Kazakhstan. A pressure test was conducted аt a supply line of the Akkulka deposit and at a connection to Kyzyloy gas pipeline export system of the Company. All main field works were completed succesfully - only corresponding permits from state regulating agencies are required to operate the gas pipeline. The pipeline is the most essential part of "Etap-2" of the Company, including development of gas deposits Kyzyloy and Akkulka in the west of Kazakhstan. Works in January were complicated with cold weather and snowstorms. To complete works on the deposit two additional compressor sets must be installed at an operating compressor set of the Company to pump increased volume of gas to the main gas pipeline Bukhara-Ural. Currently thrust plates are being assembled for compressor sets, including installation of special heaters (required due to low temperatures) to heat foundations of the compressors up to a temperature enabling link of compressor sets with foundations by means of epoxide. Current plan specifies testing of compressor sets before the end of February with consequent receipt of corresponding permits of state agencies to begin development. A west Kazakhstan division of the State Commission for Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan proved gas deposits at Akkulka, and the Committee for Geology and Subsoil Use issued a permit for direct talks with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan in regard of gas mining at the deposit. Supervising agencies issued a final permit for gas mining at wells (Г12 and Г16), located at Kyzyloy deposit. Gas mining at the deposit will be resumed in the specified order.
