Kazakhmys plc announces the appointment of Simon Heale as a non-executive director

/Kazakhmys plc, November 22, 06/ - Kazakhmys plc ("Kazakhmys" or the "Company") today announces the appointment of Simon Heale to the Board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 January 2007. Mr Heale was Chief Executive of The London Metal Exchange Limited, the largest base metals futures exchange in the world, from July 2001 to October 2006. For much of this period he was also a director of LCH Clearnet Group Limited. Mr Heale was previously Chief Operating Officer of Jardine Fleming Ltd and, prior to that, Deputy Managing Director of Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. He is currently a non-executive director at The Morgan Crucible Company plc. Mr Heale will also be appointed to the Audit, Remuneration and Nomination Committees. With effect from 1 January 2007, Board Committee membership will be: James Rutland as Chairman of the Audit Committee with Messrs Aiken and Heale also being members. Lord Renwick as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee with Messrs Aiken and Heale also being members. The Chairman of the Nomination Committee will be Mr Kim, with Lord Renwick and Mr Heale being members. David Munro will be Chairman of the HSE Committee with its other members being Messrs Aiken and Rutland.
