Conference "Principles of Women's Economic Empowerment as part of the Implementation of the Gender-Linked Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development"

On September 19, 2019, KASE and UN Women held a joint conference in Almaty on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Kazakhstan (SDGs) and the promotion of gender equality. The meeting was attended by the member companies of the Exchange.

"The Exchange, as an infrastructure organization that has joined the UN Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative and has committed to promote sustainable development principles, including implementing ESG (environmental, social and governance) reporting techniques for listed companies and KASE members, considers it necessary to support the principles of women's empowerment in order to create more sustainable and balanced business environment and society as a whole. This will only contribute to the goal set by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to become one of the thirty most developed countries in the world," Natalya Khoroshevskaya, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of KASE, said.

"Empowering women to participate fully in all spheres of life is essential for sustainable economic development and for improving the quality of life of women, men, families and society as a whole. In this context, the role of the private sector is increasing. Further progress largely depends on how we conduct business and reflect the principles of equality at the day-to-day level so that they become part of our value system and business practices," Elaine Conkievich, UN Women's Representative in Kazakhstan, said in a statement.
